Make a Smile - Farm visit

The Original Charity Shop Javea😍

Here's one of those positive little posts that allows us at "Make A Smile😀" to keep doing what we do and brings a huge sigh of relief to a whole bunch of unpaid children's Carers👍. We all know about those amazing folks💝 at the Original Charity Shop Javea who have helped and supported so many local charities over the years.👏👏👏 Well, having heard about the outrageous problems that the children👥 and challenged youngsters have been facing due to lack of funding, five of their lovely ladies decided to walk the 26k Mirador Challenge last month, raising a massive and much needed €3,100. On Sunday at our fantastic "Self Sufficiency Farm Open Day" the Original Charity Shop team 🌟 visited the "Make A Smile😀" farm project enjoying one of our star Cook Gabi's awesome lunches😋 and to see where and how we spend your kind donations. They were so impressed with the work our amazing "Land girls💖" and volunteers have been doing by creating work and a safe environment for so many children and challenged youngsters, they not only raised a further €823.45 on the day but they also donated a extra whopping €3000 enabling us to feed children in three of our other children's homes, who are desperately short of food, this coming week!!! Totally awesome stuff. A huge big thank you to all those lovely folk😘 who come to see our farm project.

“Girl Power” Team raises €3,100
to help “Make a Smile”

These brave ladies from Javea’s Original Charity Shop hiked a very strenuous 29 km from Mirador la Grandella to the Mirador los Molinos, passing through all 15 of Javea’s Miradors. The team set out hoping to raise €2,000 for the “Make a Smile” charity which supports the Emaus children’s homes. Along the Arenal the girls were cheered on by lots of shop staff and President Georgie Harvey and Treasurer Sylvia Jackson took great pleasure in presenting them with a cheque for €1,000. The team was also sponsored by shop staff, friends and family whose extremely generous contributions brought the total up to the fantastic amount of €3,100! Thank you everyone; raising such a fabulous amount made the effort well worth it.
Some of the money will be invested in the Relleu Self Sufficiency Project and the Arts and Crafts Unit which provides occupational therapy for 24 mentally challenged youngsters. The farm near Relleu holds regular open days where you can visit the Self Sufficiency Project and enjoy a delicious lunch. Veggie boxes, eggs and olive oil are also on sale and you can even sponsor an olive tree. All these activities help with the running costs of the home.
